I rode with Lance Armstrong - literally

I am currently on RAGBRAI- Register's Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa. On Wednesday, Lance joined the 10,000 bikers for a surprise ride. I didn't know he was out there until someone rode by me and said, "Lance is right behind you." So I kept pedaling, and here comes Lance and his entourage zooming past me. My brothers Joe and Ben and friend Joel were right behind, and they yelled at me to join the draft, so I did. I drafted with Lance and the huge Peleton behind him for about half a mile. It was one of the most thrilling things I have ever experienced. My brothers and Joel actual drafted with him for 17 miles. It was a literal wind tunnel. He rode again yesterday but I was stopped in a town when he came through. Poor guy stopped to get a beer and was surrounded by throngs of cheering fans. Then he got back on his bike and sped off. Rumor has it that Matthew McConaughey was with him, but I never saw him.

Uncle Jim and my sister Anna rode with Lance too, at different times. Now we can all say we rode with the greatest cyclist.

More about the rest of RAGBRAI later on - gotta ride to the next town!
